Bag Snatcher Lynched In Delta State-Nigeria

The young man in the ditch had a douse of mob action after being caught in the act of stealing. The incident happened Tuesday morning at Shell road, Sapele, Delta State. According to eyewitnesses, the man snatched a woman’s handbag in Ugbeyi, Sapele and sped off on his motorbike. Unfortunately for him, a soldier who saw him snatch the woman’s bag chased him down with someone’s Hilux but lost track of him.

Nemesis caught up with him when some people noticed he was holding an handbag but was without a passenger. He was approached, but he sped off and rode to a dead end. The youth in the area chased him into the bush, caught and battered him and threw him into a pit. Some members of the vigilante group went there to take the thief away but onlookers refused and told them they were waiting for the police arrival.

Although, when the police arrived at the scene, but they refused to take him away due to the way he was battered and left him at the mercy of the onlookers. After the police left, the soldiers were called in, and one of them confirmed the battered man was the guy he chased earlier with someone’s Hilux but mixed him because he wasn’t familiar with the route.

While he was being put into the trunk of the soldiers car, a girl in the crowd repeatedly shouted “He is my brother”. A soldier dashed off to her and flogged her with the fan-belt he was holding and beat her till she ran away. Onlookers chased and caught up with her, and handed her to the soldiers claiming she might be a spy. The owner of the bag was called and they were all taken to away by the soldiers.
